We're Hiring: Community Manager – Make a Real Impact at UNSW Village!

We're on the lookout for a dynamic, full-time Community Manager to join our team at UNSW Village. Reporting directly to the Village Manager, this permanent position is your chance to lead with heart and purpose fostering a connected, supportive, and thriving student community.
What You’ll Be Doing:
This isn’t your average 9-to-5. As Community Manager, you'll be at the forefront of shaping student life and ensuring residents feel truly at home. Your days will be filled with:
Event & Program Management
Designing and delivering an exciting calendar of events and initiatives that align with our Live, Learn, Grow framework, think social mixers, wellness workshops, academic support programs, and more.
Building Community & Connection
You’ll help shape a positive residential culture, support students in navigating shared living, and step in to support light conflict resolution, ensuring every household has what it needs to thrive.
Championing Mental Health & Wellbeing
You’ll keep a finger on the pulse of resident wellbeing, offering pastoral care and working proactively to make sure no one slips through the cracks.
People Leadership
Recruit, train, and lead a diverse team of Resident Assistants (RAs), guiding them to deliver meaningful support and energising events for their peers.
Social Media & Engagement
Keep our community buzzing online by managing day-to-day social media and sharing the incredible stories and events happening at the Village.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
From partnering with local vendors to coordinating with university stakeholders, you’ll be the glue connecting our vibrant community to the world around us.
What You’ll Bring:

A warm, confident, and empathetic presence, someone students feel comfortable turning to.

Strong leadership and people management experience, ideally within student services or a similar environment.

A creative, proactive approach to planning events and programs.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

A genuine passion for student life, mental health, and community development.

What We’re Looking For:
We’re after someone who’s not just qualified but energised by the opportunity to make an impact. Here’s what you’ll ideally bring to the table:
- 2–3 years' leadership experience — You've led teams, managed people, and know how to inspire those around you.
- Community-building savvy — You’ve got hands-on experience creating meaningful engagement through events, programs, or social media.
- A natural communicator — Whether it's a team meeting or a chat with a student, you bring clarity, empathy, and great energy to every conversation.
- A customer-first mindset — You thrive in fast-paced environments and know how to keep service standards sky-high, even when things get busy.
- People management & coordination skills — You’re organised, approachable, and know how to bring a team together to get things done.
- Strong time management — Juggling priorities? No worries. You stay on top of it all with a cool head and clear plan.
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience — Ideally, you’ve studied something like event management, social work, business or hotel management—or have solid experience that shows you’ve got what it takes.
